Mississippi Inmate Found Nearly after 24 Hours after Jumping out of Jail Transport

An inmate from Mississippi who escaped a jail transport vehicle by jumping out of a moving vehicle has been caught nearly after 24 hours.

Reports from WTVA-TV indicate that Rodger Haven was found in a ditch on Tuesday along Interstate 55, not far from where he escaped.

According to Tallahatchie County Sheriff William Brewer Jr., the shackled Haven escaped Monday night by jumping from a vehicle going 70 mph on the interstate. Sheriff Brewer says that his department had been searching for Haven for months before his arrest on charges including failure to appear in drug court.

The suspect was being taken to Tallahatchie County from Pearl River County when the escape happened. Brewer also revealed that his department had been searching for Haven for 9 months on multiple felony warrants.

The inmate is currently in good condition at a local hospital and he may face a felony escape charge. Rodger Haven was discovered around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Haven will be charged with felony escape after being released.
