A convicted rapist in Magnolia, Texas was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences Monday for repeatedly raping a 3-month-old baby girl and filming it.
The grotesque sexual assaults were perpetrated by David Vincent Akins, Jr. who molested his own child for the entire first year of her life. Investigators busted Akins after discovering child pornography on his laptop in 2016 and compared the images to family photos on the same computer.
After finding videos of Akins raping the 3-month-old, investigators matched them to images of Akins' own daughter. The home-made child pornography was created during the entire first year of the baby girl's life.
Mary Nan Huffman, Chief Prosecutor of the Internet Crimes Against Children Division in Montgomery County, said, "This baby was raped before she could roll over. For the sake of our county and our children, I hope we never have another David Akins, Jr. in my entire career as a prosecutor."
Akin's own daughter was not the only victim of his rampant abuse. During Atkins' sentencing hearing, five other former child victims he abused also testified.
Among these victims were two female relatives who also claimed he raped them, one victim was 5-years-old at the time of the sexual assault and the other was age 3 to 11. Akins was 14 when he committed those rapes and served time in a juvenile detention center as a result.
Akins was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences and he will never be eligible for parole.
