President Trump came out of the gates storming this morning, attacking one of his biggest foes in the Democratic party, when he tweeted: “Little Adam Schiff, who is desperate to run for higher office, is one of the biggest liars and leakers in Washington, right up there with Comey, Warner, Brennan and Clapper!”

With that text, the US President put the California Democrat in the same group of people he’s sparred with at one time or another: FBI Director James Comey, Democratic Senator Mark Warner (who’s on the Senate Intelligence Committee), the former CIA Director John Brennan and the former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

A bit later, the US president praised the writer of the FISA memo that has been dominating US politics for a week, Mr David Nunes, when he said: “Representative Devin Nunes, a man of tremendous courage and grit, may someday be recognized as a Great American Hero for what he has exposed and what he has had to endure!”

Mr Schiff responded in kind on Twitter a little while later, stating: "Mr. President, I see you’ve had a busy morning of 'Executive Time’.'" referencing the Fire and Fury book which claims that Trump's daily schedule has of late increasingly been dominated by f watching TV and being on Twitter.

"Instead of tweeting false smears, the American people would appreciate it if you turned off the TV and helped solve the funding crisis, protected Dreamers or…really anything else."

We don’t think the last word on that discussion has been said just yet.
