Holland has exploded with tensions after Turkish protesters started violence. The violence was caused by a diplomatic case.
The Dutch riot police managed to engage the Turkish rioters.
The violence got worse in the evening after Turkey’s Family Minister was prevented from going to the Turkish consulate in Rotterdam.
The Turkish protesters responded by ganging up outside with Turkish flags. The hundreds of protesters were demanding to see the minister.
The protesters threw stones and bottles at the Dutch police. The police fought the protesters using dogs and water cannons.
One of the witness said that some demonstrators were beaten by police using sticks.
The Dutch police had a tough time. They attacked the protesters while on horseback. Others attacked the protesters using shields and armored vans.
The Dutch authorities prevented Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu from flying to Rotterdam.
Turkey's Family Minister, Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya, also said on Twitter that she was being sent back to Germany.
Turkey’s family minister said that the world must take a stand in the name of Democracy against this fascist act.
She said that the behavior against a woman minister can never be allowed.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attacked the Dutch as being “Nazi remnants and fascists” after they cancelled a Rotterdam rally.
The comments that were made by NATO members were caused by the Dutch government canceling permission for a plane carrying Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu to land in Holland.
Mr Cavusoglu was going to speak at a rally in support of a Yes vote in Turkey’s upcoming referendum.
The referendum would give Mr. Erdogan increased powers.
However, the rally was banned for security reasons, according to Rotterdam's mayor.
The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said that the Turkish threat of sanctions could not allow the two countries to find a reasonable solution.
I find this a highly tendentious article. The only place where there was a kind of a bout was in Rotterdam at the Turkish consulate. And the demonstration prior wasn't that big. A few hundred at the most and the majority was peaceful. Just a few that tried to escalate the situation.
