Cambodia, the country stuck between Thailand and Vietnam which most of us only know because Kim Wilde once sang about it, is in the news as it has arrested some 77 tourists (10 of whom are still in jail now) as they were caught in what the Cambodian police described as ‘pornographic dancing’. They have released a bunch of pictures of the party to convince foreign authorities that they were right to make the arrests.

The story goes like this: a group of young tourists from the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, Canada and New Zealand had all rented a villa where police state they created ‘pornographic images’ (from the stills we have seen this is still quite ok, but we are not Cambodian) and were caught singing. The tourists had organized what was known as a pub crawl.

The Khmer Times, an English-language newspaper close to the government, said some of the events were known as “Let’s Get Wet.”
A Facebook page for Let’s Get Wet parties in Siem Reap advertised what it billed as “Asia’s biggest pool crawl.”
It also said it offered “a whole day of partying in a Villa Mansion just out of town with hundreds of other backpackers” and featuring a DJ, barbecue and pool.

Cambodian police have in the meantime shaven the heads of some of the men detained and has put everyone in an orange jumpsuit awaiting their trial. They risk a 1 year jail term if convicted.
Foreign embassies have been overwhelmed with the requests for information by the families of those detained.
