New Internet Trend "No Lacking Challenge" Leaves 17-year-old with Gunshot Wound to the Head

Another idiotic internet trend amongst teens - known as the "No Lacking Challenge" - has left one 17-year-old in Memphis in a life or death situation with a gunshot wound to the skull.

For those who are unaware of this new ‘challenge' that are increasing in popularity, it's a dangerous game involving a firearm that once again has made waves amongst today's youth.

It began with gangbangers and thugs who seemingly believe it's okay to carry loaded firearms and pull them out on unsuspecting civilians.

The trend became viral amongst those gangbangers, who inner-city teens and suburban teens alike idolize, and became another internet fascination.

It involves a group of children or people who bring out firearms, pulling the guns on one another. It's a test to see if the person you then target with the gun is carrying the firearm or not. If you're not carrying a gun, then you're "lacking".

In Memphis, Tennessee several teens were involved in trying to replicate the "No Lacking Challenge", and as a result of their recklessness, one of them may not survive.

The Memphis Police Department says that 21-year-old Sherman Lackland attempted to earn internet fame while filming his "No Lacking Challenge" inside of E's Café, and shot his 17-year-old friend in the head when it occurred.

Multiple eyewitnesses describe the group as acting carelessly with the firearm and filming it on their phones.

The victim hasn't been named because he's a minor, but his cousin Terrencio Bell spoke to<a href="http://m.wmcactionnews5.com/story/37376925/cousin-disputes-report-no-lackin-challenge-hospitalized-17-year-old"> Local WMCA Channel 5 </a>about the incident.

"Everybody is shaken up right now, and it got me even worse," Bell said. "We were just sitting there eating. When Sherman took the gun back out of his pocket, he pointed it up and it went off."

There's a dispute as to whether or not the teens were replicating the game, to which Bell claims they weren't, although the Memphis Police Department, witnesses inside the restaurant, and several local media outlets including <a href="https://www.click2houston.com/news/national/possible-no-lacking-challenge-leaves-teen-shot-in-head-fighting-for-his-life"> Click 2 </a> disagree completely saying that far too many people witnessed the ignorant actions of the unintelligent and careless group of teens.

"No, it wasn't the No Lackin Challenge. We were just sitting there eating," Bell said. "When Sherman took [the gun] back out of his pocket, he pointed it up, and it went off."

Despite the claims of Bell, law enforcement claim the shooting is a direct result of the "No Lacking Challenge".

Bell's cousin is now in the hospital barely clinging to life, where he may not survive.

There's been no word yet in what charges Sherman may face, but it underscores the fact that guns aren't toys nor should they be handled by those not properly trained to use them.

If you're a parent with firearms in your home, teach your kids gun safety. Talk to them about the risks of playing with a gun, and discuss the uses are either intended for self-defense, hunting, or sport in the proper environment.
