The driver of an SUV that struck and killed a Kansas City mother on Friday night has been located by Kansas City police.
Authorities in Kansas revealed that they located the driver of an SUV that struck and killed a Kansas City mother and the vehicle as a result of a tip.
Authorities managed to identify the woman who was killed in the hit-and-run as 25-year-old Jyra D. Hill of Kansas City.
The accident occurred around 11:15 p.m. Friday near East Gregory Boulevard. The woman is reported to have been crossing the road in the crosswalk there, going from west to east, when the southbound SUV hit her and kept going.
Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead on the spot. The available evidence shows that the vehicle was a 2012-2015 Chevrolet Equinox with front-end damage. Accounts given by witnesses said that the car was either black or dark blue. The incident led to the closure of all the southbound lanes of 71 Highway for a period of about three and a half hours before the authorities reopened the section.
