The abduction took place near 153rd Street and Burnham Avenue in Calumet City December 20, 2017. In the video, a man gets out of a red Ford Explorer and appears to wait for the child walking down the sidewalk to reach him. He then blocks the child's path, grabs her, and puts her inside the vehicle.

The kidnapper then quickly drives off before parking the vehicle in an alley and assaulting the child, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The victim eventually escaped and flagged down a passing vehicle who then contacted law enforcement.

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, 38-year-old Bryan Protho was arrested on December 27 and indicted on a federal kidnapping charge. Protho remains in federal custody and the FBI is seeking any additional information about the vehicle or the suspect in the video.

The victim's identity has not been released but if you have any information, please contact the FBI Chicago Field Office at (312) 421-6700 or [email protected]
