In an odd move, lawmakers in Florida are pushing to move the whole state to the Eastern time zone. Committees of Congress approved legislation to move the state to daylight saving time all year round.
The strange approval came Wednesday morning after committee members were told the reason for the time change would be good for the tourism industry. Rep. Heather Fitzenhagen, R-Ft. Myers made a statement at the committee meeting saying:
"Committee members, this is the first great step to putting more sunshine in our lives in Florida. We are the Sunshine State. I think it's going to improve the health and wellness across the board. If you think it about it a moment, how many times have you gotten home from work in the wintertime and you would [love] to go throw the football, maybe drop a line in, or go out to dinner with your spouse? This will give people more quality time, the time when it's nicest in Florida."
Lawmakers and the governor still have to come to an agreement, Congress and the U.S. Department of Transportation will also have to approve the time change as well as the Commerce & Tourism Committee and Rules Committee before it makes it to the Senate floor
Rep. Fitzenhagen also appealed to families and business owners in her plea, saying the change would add much needed time to spouses and parents.

I agree…. But maybe dividing up Florida in to 2 parts West and East politically could also be viable.
They have been seriously talking in California for 20+ years dividing it up.
An area running from LA to SF due to the almost 180 degree difference in culture and how these 2 cities almost bankrupt the whole state with the majority of illegals and control the whole states voting and allow illegals to hide and vote.
