A man from Michigan who threatened to shoot employees of CNN at its headquarters in Atlanta was arrested.
Brandon Griesemer allegedly called the news organization roughly 22 times seven days ago. FBI launched an investigation into the matter.
The man allegedly expressed anger over CNN and said: “Fake news. I’m coming to gun you all down.”
The man repeated his threat as he called again and “touted his strength”. He allegedly said in his follow-up threat: “I’m smarter than you. More powerful than you. I have more guns than you. More manpower. Your cast is about to be gunned down in a matter of hours.”
The suspect allegedly even announced that he was on his way to carry out his threat. He said: “I am coming to Georgia right now to go to the CNN headquarters to fucking gun every single last one of you.”
The authorities traced the call and identified the man, effectively preventing him from fulfilling his threat.
President Trump has been at odds with CNN, often referring to it as “Fake News Network” for what he thinks is its bias against him while being perceived, on the other hand, as friendly and favorable to the Democrats especially former president Barack Obama and losing presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. There are many Trump supporters who also view CNN as biased for liberal views and for glaringly anti-Trump.
The authorities have not released the suspect’s identity. It is also not clear yet what charges will be filed against him. CNN has not given a statement on the matter yet.
