A plan is being aligned by Democrats in an attempt to reopen the federal government as the Senate heads toward a key vote.
A proposal to fund the government until Feb. 8 has been predicted by several Democrats, this is inevitably overcome a Democratic filibuster. This would open opportunity for an end to the three-day shutdown that in place.
It appears as though Democrats have jumped on board after two days of negotiations that ended with new reassurances from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that the Senate will consider immigration proposals in the coming weeks.
A statement was released on Monday morning by Sen. Amy Klobuchar who said she believed Democrats and Republicans now have "a path forward." Also, the Florida Democrat Bill Nelson is predicting a resounding yes from Democrats on the plan to reopen the federal government.
