Game Of Thrones Ice Hotel Opens In Lapland

The underlying premise of the Game of Thrones saga is that ‘winter is coming’, and with that in mind, a Lapland (the northernmost region of Finland) ice festival not far from the North Pole decided to open a Game of Thrones hotel just for the occasion.

Yes, this seasons Show Village in Kitilla, Finland, has created a fairy-tale world that every GoT fan can marvel in, complete with winter walkers and an iron throne, all made out of ice of course.

Snow Village operations manager Janne Pasma said it was ‘a dream come true’ that HBO Nordic had allowed them to do stage a hotel based on the show’s settings and characters.

HBO claims fans from all over the world have responded positively to the idea with many posting the pictures on social media. Their local spokeswoman Nina Palmroos said: "We found it a wonderful idea. Some of the world's best ice sculptors have done very detailed and thorough work,"

"Fans are very loyal to the series and this gives them a chance to experience something unique."

So if you can’t wait till 2019 when the next series launches, remember that for about $200 per stay you can spend a night immersed in ice sculptures of your favourite characters.

Outside of the hotel is an ice bar that serves vodka shots and an ice restaurant where you can feast on reindeer.
