Denmark – Police Charge 1,000 Teenagers Over Facebook Child-Sex Video

In a landmark case which is shocking the Scandinavian nation, Danish police declared that they would be investigating over 1,000 youngsters for distributing sexually explicit material.

According to preliminary reports, all kids are guilty of spreading indecent video clips featuring several 15-year-olds having sex.

Given the fact that the persons in questions are teenagers themselves as well as the material relating to minors, the pending court cases could become a novelty in European legislation.

Mr. Flemming Kjaerside of Denmark’s National Crime Center stated: “We want to give out a warning to young people: think about what you’re doing.”

“Don’t ever share sex videos. It can have consequences for the victims and also for those distributing. We really hope that it is an eyeopener for young people, that they should be careful in the digital world about what you should do.”

Danish police declared that they received a tip-off from Facebook themselves who remarked the rapid spreading of the video.

Any person who would be found guilty of these charges can under current Danish legislation face a possible prison sentence of about 20 days.

Many are curious as to who will be charged as 1,000 youngsters out of a population of 6 million Danes comes down to 1 kid in every town that has seen and shared the video.

Police Inspector Lau Thygesen said that the case is “very large and complex.”

“We’ve taken the matter very seriously as it has big consequences for those involved.”

I think 3 teenagers (aged around 14-16) were charged with production & distribution of child pornograpy for making a sex video and then posting it online. Needs to be made a separate crime, I think. Something strong enough to deter a child from doing something that could haunt them for their whole life WITHOUT ruining their lives from then on in the process of prosecution.
