Anthony Weiner lost the public's trust when he was caught sexting a minor last year, but apparently, his wife stuck with him through the trying ordeal. That is, until now.
<a href="https://pagesix.com/2018/01/10/huma-abedin-and-anthony-weiner-call-off-divorce/?_ga=2.188263019.2107800672.1515616593-1638337781.1514390532">PageSix</a> reports the pair has withdrawn their pending divorce and both cited the same reasons in either one their statements from their lawyers. The couple's statements said the scandal surrounding them and divorce has made it difficult to protect their 6-year-old son.
Experts think there might be more to the decision such as shielding one another from a potential federal probe. 41-year-old Abedin was seen at the luxury Four Seasons Hotel on Hawaii's Big Island last weekend. She and Weiner were supposed to appear in Manhattan Supreme Court for a compliance conference in the divorce case against her husband Weiner, 53.
Instead of showing up, both Abedin and Weiner submitted paperwork signed by both parties agreeing to end the case. The judge announced the case was "discontinued." Here is the statement the pair released, "In order to reduce any impact of these proceedings on their child, the parties have decided to reach a settlement swiftly and privately.
Abedin’s lawyer, Charles Miller, and Weiner’s attorney, Margaret Donohoe both said the exact same statements and the divorce case was dropped. family law expert Michael Stutman says in order for the agreement to be legally binding, they have to file a divorce settlement in court.
Trump recently tweeted, "Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aid [sic], Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents Remember sailors [sic] pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act."
The tweet implied the possibility of a federal investigation but New York law says a husband and wife can't be required to disclose a confidential communication made by one or the other during the marriage.
