Thailand's Leader Deflects Journalists Questions To Cardboard Cutout

||| ABC News |||

The Prime Minister of Thailand took a rather comical stance, or rather his cardboard twin did when he deflected journalists questions to a life-size cardboard cut-out of himself.

If you were hoping to get some answers from the Prime Minister, good luck asking your burning questions to a cardboard approximation of the Thai leader because he's not saying very much.

Prayuth Chan-Ocha evaded questions by pointing to a cardboard cutout of himself and then turning around to leave. Chan-Ocha left the mock-up of himself behind him and didn't answer a single question after briefly speaking to media during an event promoting upcoming Children's Day.

"If you want to ask any questions on politics or conflict," Chan-Ocha said, "ask this guy." He pointed to the cardboard cut-out of himself. The current Prime Minister has shocked people before, such as when he took power in a bloodless coup in 2014.

Other strange performances include fondling the ear of a sound technician for several minutes during an impromptu news conference, flinging a banana peel at cameramen and threatening to execute any journalist who criticized his Government.

His rise to power was initially praised by the people of Thailand for bringing an end to the prolonged period of violent street-politics. But as his rule has stretched on, people are beginning to question exactly when and if he will step down.
