Winfrey's speech took the Golden Globes by storm on Sunday evening adding to speculation that the talk show mogul could throw her lot in the 2020 presidential race. Ivanka praised Winfrey despite her being a potential contender for the presidency that would mean running against her father.
Winfrey has denied rumors that she is considering a presidential run in the past, but her remarks at the Golden Globes regarding the #MeToo movement didn't do much to dispel those rumors. Her speech presented a forward-thinking view on hot social topics such as the sexual harassment scandals that have plagued Hollywood in recent months.
According to three of Winfrey's closest friends, she is "actively thinking" about running for president in 2020 but those friends declined to be identified for official comment.
Ivanka Trump's tweet is a nod to the #MeToo movement and naturally garnered criticism considering that several women have made wide-ranging claims inappropriate against her father.
