Active Search on for Missing Penn Student Who Vanished in Southern California

A University of Pennsylvania student was just visiting his home in Foothill Ranch, Southern California for the winter break when he disappeared. The authorities have launched an active search for him.

The student who vanished on Tuesday is identified as Blaze Bernstein. He is 19 years old. He went home to spend the holidays with his family and then disappeared.

Police say he was last seen when he met up with a friend and they drove to a nearby Borrego Park in Orange County. A local media report says Berstein went into the Whiting Ranch Wilderness Area. The university student was last seen around 11:30 that night.

Bernstein’s father says he believes his son was planning to return home because he didn’t bring his wallet with him when he left their house. He also left in the house his other essentials like glasses, ID, and medications he takes every day.

The friend said he stayed in the park while Berstein went on to Wilderness Area, and that he also didn’t know why he would want to go there.

Volunteers with the Sheriff’s Reserve Bureau have gone to the wilderness park twice already this week to search for Berstein. Two aerial searches using thermal imaging were also conducted but yielded nothing.

The missing student’s parents and detectives working on the case have searched Berstein’s social media accounts to get possible clues but they could not gain full access to the said accounts.

The sophomore Penn student was scheduled to fly back Sunday to return to his classes at the University of Pennsylvania.

The authorities have not clarified if they are looking at the prospect of a voluntary disappearance on the part of the student or if there’s foul play involved.

It is also not clear if the local authorities have contacted the University of Pennsylvania if they could provide any assistance in the investigations as to anything that might be of significance to the search for the missing student.

It is also not clear if the student brought a mobile with him before his disappearance. The police have also not discussed any information on the possible emotional state of the missing student before his disappearance.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Bernstein, or who may have seen him after Tuesday can contact the Orange County police for any helpful tips or details.
