Police in Orem has arrested a Utah County sheriff's deputy for his involvement in a child sex abuse case in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Maricopa County law enforcement contacted the Utah County Sheriff's Office Friday after a warrant was issued for 63-year-old Utah Sheriff's deputy Gerald Salcido.
Charges were filed against Salcido in Arizona on multiple counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Salcido was also charged with at least one count of molestation of a child.
An Arizona court set Salcido's bail at $75,000 and local authorities aided Orem police in arrested one of their own. Salcido was booked into a jail outside of Utah County.
The charges stem from the reported conduct that took place before Salcido was employed with the Utah County Sheriff's Office.
Salcido was a Utah County sheriff's deputy for 14 years and has been placed on administrative leave.
