A horrific incident took place on New Year’s Day when a 48-year-old Missouri man admitted to having sex with an 8-year-old girl and forcing her to methamphetamine inside a hotel. Now, the man has been charged for his condemnable acts after he admitted to the allegations against him.
Brett Pendleton was charged with one count of statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 12, and an additional count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating a substantial risk. He remains jailed on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
Pendleton rented a room at the hotel and he had the child with him. Investigators said the mother of the child came to the room on the evening of January 1 and that’s when she discovered the horrific things done to her daughter.
The child showed to her mother her body and told her that Pendleton hurt her. The police shared that the vile suspect forced the child to participate in several different types of sexual acts. The child also said that Pendleton made her eat methamphetamine, smoke marijuana, and smoke cigarettes.
The mother brought her child from the hotel to a local hospital for check-ups. She filed a police report after.
Pendleton attempted to flee by leaving the hotel but was taken into custody after a traffic stop.
Investigators also shared that the pieces of evidence they later found in the room occupied by the victim and Pendleton matched the statements of the little girl.
Pendleton admitted that he gave methamphetamine to the girl by rolling it in toilet paper and then feeding it to her. He also confessed to forcing sexual contact with the poor victim.
It is not know how the mother and Pendleton are related, and why she allowed her young child to go with him alone in a hotel. It is also not yet established if the hotel did not make necessary prior investigation or questioning before allowing Pendleton to check in with a young girl. It is not known if the hotel staff did not suspect a probable case of trafficking from the start.
