2018 is set to bring some wonderful things such as recreational marijuana legalization in California, but that isn't all the state is getting. Along with the floodgates of industry, the legalization brings new opportunities for those looking to start marijuana businesses and Mike Tyson is one of those people.

The former boxing champion kicked off the New Year with a bang and broke ground at his new marijuana ranch December 20 in California City. The ranch will dedicate 20 acres of land for cultivation facilities that "will allow master growers to have maximum control of their environment."
There will also be an onsite Tyson Cultivation School to teach growers the ins and outs of the lucrative industry. Tyson was joined by business partners in the venture Robert Hickman, Jay Strommen and also the city's mayor Jennifer Wood. Hickman told The Blast that the "Undeveloped lands are primed to be cultivated" describing the future Tyson Ranch as an oasis in the desert.

Tyson's plans are big for the ranch, he has set a goal for numerous facilities to be constructed at the ranch that makes the whole experience more like a marijuana resort. He plans to feature hydro-feed plant and supplies, an extraction facility, an edible factory, premium "glamping" campgrounds and cabins, and an amphitheater.
Tyson has been an advocate for the healing properties of marijuana for a long time, and he intends to help further the medical research and treatment of the plant on his ranch. The Blast reports that the company behind the ranch is Tyson Holistic, a company comprised mostly of veterans and makes treating men and woman who served in the armed forces a top priority.

The site of the ranch happens to be near Edwards Air Force Base and intends to create jobs for the local community. Tyson even has the blessing of the mayor who described his vision for the ranch as a "rebirth" for the entire city.
