2017 was another record breaking box office year and these the top 10 movies at the US cinema won’t be unhappy about their run.
1. Star Wars – The Last Jedi
Star Wars: The Last Jedi overtook Beauty And The Beast on the last weekend of 2017 to become the top earner at the US box office.
The battle that Rey and Luke Skywalker put on against the First Order brought in a whopping $520million in the USA so far, with much more revenue expected from merchandising.
2. Beauty And The Beast
In second place we thus find Beauty And The Beast with $500 million. The remake of the Disney classic cartoon proved to be a hit for Emma Watson and catapulted her to a movie star who could carry a blockbuster alone without the help of any of her Harry Potter colleagues.
3. Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot reprises her role as Wonder Woman to round out the top three. With $400 million box office revenue, this standalone female superhero movie was a first of its kind and rumour has it many more are in the works. Wonder Woman was the summer hit par excellence and she even supported the Justice League team as well to take place 11 too.
4. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2
The second in the Guardians of the Galaxy series comes in at 4, as Chris Pratt and his team of quirky supervillains stealing orbs make almost $400 million and will certainly return for a third one soon.
5. Spider-Man Homecoming
Tom Holland was able to entice a lot of moviegoers to the cinema to see another reboot of Spider Man in the quite successful Spider-Man Homecoming. Made $334 million.
6. It
It stands out in that top ten as it is the only horror movie to easily break the bank in the past few years, grossing a magnificent $300 million for a flick without any known stars and rated for violence and horror.
7. Thor Ragnarok
8. Despicable Me 3
9. Logan
10. Fast & Furious 8
The rest of the top 10 is for Thor with a bit of help from the Hulk at 7, Gru finding his long lost brother at 8, Logan saying goodbye as Wolverine at 9 and already the 8th movie in the Fast & Furious series to round out the top.

Inflated numbers for Star Wars. Disney had to say it was number 1. Couldn't show the truth that it sucked and lost more money for them.
