Unlucky at Slot Machine, Man Turns to Robbing an Atlanta Store for Cash

A man never got lucky while playing the slot machine for hours at the Best for Less Food Mart in southwest Atlanta. The store manager says the man never hit the jackpot.

His losing streak at the slot machine may have so ‘disappointed’ the man that after gambling he turned to robbing a store perhaps in the foolish hope that he’ll have more luck there. The Atlanta police said the man pointed a gun at the lone employee in the store and demanded cash. Still aiming the gun, the suspect forced the poor employee to open the cash register. He then got the cash and also more from under the counter.

The suspect grabbed between $500 and $700 cash before fleeing away from the Campbellton Road store.

Police said the employee was not injured. Surveillance footage shows that the employee did not struggle or attempt to fight or challenge the robber with the gun pointed at him.

The police said the suspect in the armed robbery was last seen wearing light blue jeans with rips, a gray hoodie with a cap underneath with a blue backpack.

Investigators are also interested in identifying another man who greeted the suspect near the slot machines. The man was seen in surveillance video wearing jeans with a blue hooded jacket under a navy jacket.

The authorities are asking the public’s help to hunt down the suspect. Anyone with helpful information is requested to contact CrimeStoppers 404-577-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous if they wish so.
