Last week The Goldwater reported on the despicable act of a Phoenix man accused of bending his own infant child in half to get him to stop crying, now the infant has died.

The child was listed in critical condition and doctors said it was unlikely he would survive the injuries which included lacerations to his liver and pancreas, a broken wrist and bruising on his thigh.
Police arrested 30-year-old Robert Anthony Resendiz on charges of child abuse but specific charges are still pending the autopsy results. Investigators say that Resendiz called 911 on December 19 to report his son had stopped breathing.
He told police he found the child was not breathing when he woke up, but investigators say his version of events did not match with the infant's mother told them.
Resendiz admitted to officers during an interview that he pressed the infant's legs over his head and bent his body to get him to stop crying.
Resendiz stated he put "pressure on the victim and did not release pressure until the victim had stopped moving and was limp." He also told investigators he bite the infant twice out of frustration.
The 6-month-old died on December 21 at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Charges against Resendiz are pending the medical examiner's report.
