Lonoke County, AK Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting, Kidnapping

Authorities have arrested a man involved in a double shooting and kidnapping, while they are still in the hunt for a second suspect.

The incident happened after Lonoke County deputies responded to a home on Johnson Road in Scott just before 12:30 a.m. Monday after two people were shot.

The police say 49-year-old Arlin Wayne Bugent died on the scene even before deputies got to the place of the incident. Another person who’s not yet identified was taken to the hospital with still unknown injuries.

The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office shares also that a female was kidnapped from the home by 33-year-old suspect Richard Gilliam.

Deputies say the female kidnapping victim was located by Little Rock Police and brought to a hospital. The authorities, however, have yet to release information on her injuries.

Gilliam was arrested on Monday and faces capital murder, kidnapping, criminal attempt to commit capital murder and aggravated residential burglary charges.

The authorities have yet to release a description of the second person deputies are searching for. It is not clear what is the second suspect’s role in the incident, and if he is known to Gilliam. He’s being at large may pose some danger to society and other people. It is also not clear if he is armed.

Authorities are also seeking the public’’s help. Anyone with any useful information or detail about the incident that could be of help to the investigations especially in the hunt for the second suspect is requested to call the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office.
