TLC Reality Show 'Gypsy Sisters' Star Arrested For Coupon Scam

The former star of the TLC reality show 'Gypsy Sisters', Mellie Stanley and her husband George Lee, were arrested on charges of theft by deception, criminal possession of forged instrument and unlawful access to a computer.

The couple is accused of using forged coupons at Toy R Us effectively robbing the store of $18,000 worth of product. Arrest documents show Stanley and Lee used counterfeit coupons to purchase $18,000 worth of items from a Lexington Toys R Us and a Hamburg Babies R Us.

The crimes took place in last October and investigators say the klepto-couple used forged coupons that tricked computers into treating the coupons like cash. Investigators say the couple used this method of scam on Toys R Us stores around the country and Stanley faces charges in both Virginia and West Virginia.

TMZ reported on a similar crime involving one of Stanley's sisters and a similar scheme at a target store in 2014. It seems whenever the family is low on cash they take their trade secret scams and go to work. Stanley pleaded not guilty in Fayette District Court on Thursday.

Both Stanley and Lee had a preliminary hearing on Friday and a judge waived their cases to the grand jury and set a $5,000 bond for each. The court ordered both to wear ankle bracelets if they make bond and are forbidden from having contact with each other.

Stanley and Lee were arrested in Louisiana and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center.
