President Trump held a listening session on domestic and international human trafficking, this included women and girls who are sexually abused for monetary gain. There were earlier reports that indicated that the sudden West Wing attention to the issue was driven by Ivanka Trump who is a huge West Wing force despite her decision not to take an official title for the worthy cause.

It’s alleged that the meeting came about after Ivanka Trump and Dina Powell, the White House senior counselor for economic initiatives had few meetings with some groups that attended the session which took place in the Roosevelt Room. As a result, Ivanka recommended the meeting to the president and he immediately agreed since it was an awful situation that’s facing the country.

There were various outside groups which attended the meeting, they included the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, International Justice Mission, Thorn, Tech Innovation to Fight Child Sexual Exploitation.

Representatives of the Justice Department plus policy guru Stephen Miller, Dina Powell and Hope Hicks who is the director of strategic communications attended the meeting.

The meeting was very crucial based on the fact that White House support for legislation on the issue could emerge from the meeting. The West Wing aides had earlier on been talking about how to co-operate with three senators on the issue - Rob Portman of Ohio, Marco Rubio of Florida and Bob Corker of Tennessee.

President Donald Trump has said that he’s going to bring the full force and weight of the US government to fight the human trafficking menace. Trump’s meeting with senior advisers and representatives of organizations that deal with trafficking is very key in ensuring that he fulfills his pledge.

President Trump has referred to human trafficking as a problem that is not often talked about enough, adding that he will order the departments of justice and Homeland Security to take a hard look at the resources that they commit in solving the menace.
