A fire that started in the vehicle in the basement parking lot of a gym has claimed the lives of 29 people. 50 firefighters and 20 fire engines were dispatched to fight the raging fire which quickly engulfed the entire eight-story fitness complex in Jecheon, South Korea.

Firefighters say that most victims were trapped in the sauna on the second floor. Shocking pictures show the raging fire and as emergency crews battle the blaze. One photo even shows a man jumping from the building onto a waiting blanket. Flames appear to have reached every level of the building leaving it entirely charred.

The death toll was initially revealed to be 16 but was updated to 29. Firefighters used breathing gear as they climbed ladders to get to any victims they could possibly be saved while helicopters dropped water on the building. Witnesses say smoke from the fire could be seen 100 miles away as the flames reached the top of the structure.

The gym is located in Jecheon, South Korea which is about 100 miles from the nation's capital Seoul.
