The problem with a number of mainstream television news hosts or presenters is that they cannot quite decide if they are really the journalists they project themselves to be, or are indeed, PR practitioners and defenders of Democrats and liberals. Take for instance the case of MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle who showed her true colors once more on air either by lying through her teeth or just being grossly ignorant of facts, all in an effort to put her beloved former President Barack Obama and his administration in a good light.
Ruhle who treats all conservative guests as if they were her adversaries was interviewing Republican Rep. Chris Collins ( N.Y.) on Wednesday about the tax overhaul bill when the issue of economic growth during Obama’s term came up, and the host- or should that be card-carrying liberal- had the nerve to “correct “ Collins, only to give dramatically exaggerated numbers to favor Obama.
During the interview, Ruhle was pressing Collins whether there would be entitlement cuts if the legislation does not pay for itself through economic growth. Collins answered that there will not be any cuts to entitlements and even offered the view that strong economic growth under President Donald Trump will double the country’s economy.
Collins, who voted favorably for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, also slammed the sluggish economic growth during Obama’s presidency. But Ruhle quickly cut him off and jumped to the defense of the Democratic former president and his 8-year long administration.
Collins previous statement before he was rudely interrupted by “host” Ruhle was: “It’s been growing at one, 1.5 percent for eight years under Barack Obama, which is the whole reason we ended up with $10 trillion in extra debt.” Ruhle stated then that growth rate reached three percent at “14 different points during that period.”
In truth, research by the Washington Free Beacon indicates that the Obama administration only saw economic growth of three percent or better in eight different quarters over its eight years in power. The Obama administration also never surpassed three percent in annual economic growth throughout its 8-year term.
The Trump administration, for its part, has touted its goals for annual GDP growth of three percent. It is on target. The nation had, in fact, its best back-to-back quarters since 2014 in Q2 and Q3 in 2017, topping three percent both quarters.
But of course, that is something the mind and heart of Ruhle, the Dems defender and Obama’s unappointed PR girl, will not be able to comprehend, or much more, appreciate.
