Anita Hill Chairs Hollywood Anti-Sexual Harassment Commission

After the spate of sexual harassment allegations involving artists and movers in Hollywood, movie industry giants are coming together by forming a committee meant to combat the problem to be chaired by Anita Hill.

Hill is of course also known for famously accusing Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment in 1991 during the Senate confirmation process. Since then, aside from teaching law and policy at Brandeis University, Hill has been active in discussions on the legal and cultural developments surrounding harassment issues along with gender and racial equality.

The committee will be known as The Commission on Sexual Harassment and Advancing Equality in the Workplace. It was formed only last Friday by industry leaders, including Disney, Sony, Paramount, and Warner Bros., who convened to primarily discuss the sexual harassment accusations that have been shaking the entertainment world the past recent months. Also among those who convened the meeting include Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, Nike Foundation founder and co-chair Maria Eitel, Nina Shaw, and venture capitalist Freada Kapor Klein.

Speaking to Variety, Hill said she is “proud” to be leading the newly-formed commission. She also described it as a “long overdue journey to adopt best practices and create institutional change that fosters a culture of respect and human dignity throughout the industry.”

Hill added that with more women coming out to share their stories and end the culture of silence, the moment presents the industry with an unprecedented opportunity to make real change. Hill said they will be focusing on issues ranging from power disparity, equity and fairness, safety, sexual harassment guidelines, education and training, reporting and enforcement, ongoing research, and data collection.”

Several big industry names have seen their careers and reputations falling after several women came out to accuse them of sexual harassment including movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, actor Kevin Spacey, and comedian Louis C.K., among others. Spacey’s roles in a television show and movie project have been canceled in the process.

Yeah! that makes sense use a LIBERAL Marta Show piece that was used to try and stop a SCOTUS conservative Black appointment. That was exposed and found NOT creditable.

Just look who is involved.

Lucas films, Nike Foundation founder, Maria Eitel (the Girl Effect/PBS), Nina Shaw (Hollywood Actors Lawyer) , and venture capitalist Freada Kapor Klein (social activists.

Many of which have a Strong Liberal Social / community advocate and pro-Hollywood leanings .
