Chinese authorities, in line with government’s new regulations, have shut down a traditional institute in the northern Liaoning province that was teaching Chinese women how to ‘be more obedient towards their men.’
The school, where Chinese men would send their wives to learn “women’s virtues” such as good old-fashioned household chores and the value of “talking less and working more” has been forced to close due to a viral video.
According to local reports, the tutors at the school instructed women not to wear too much make-up or have career ambitions, and that their loyalty should only be with their own man. As such, the women were told they would die if they had sex with more than three men and that they would lose their virtue if they ever ordered takeaways instead of making good traditional home-cooked meals.
Fushun Traditional Values Association was started in 2011 and has since established three other branches across China. The school was set up by Mr Kang Jinsheng, who was became inspired by teachings on “Chinese traditional cultural values.”
There were a few more strict teaching for women, such as not hitting back your man when they hit you. Unfortunately, due to current social media, a video of one of the lectures at the school went viral and Chinese authorities immediately cracked down when they saw the comments of their citizens to such behavior.
The Fushun education department declared that the teachings “went against socialist core values” and that it would “stop any phenomenon that violated the core value of socialism.”
According to Chinese authorities, the school was closed down because “instead of promoting gender equality, these schools tell students that a woman should respect her father, husband, and son unconditionally and that women should be subordinate to men, which goes against socialist core values.”
