The not-so-smart criminal has been identified as John Stephens who fled deputies in a vehicle before racing home to inject heroin. The Marion County Sheriff's Office says a detective found a wanted Stephens at his central Florida home Monday. Stephens fled from deputies again in his vehicle and the sheriff's pursued him, again.
The Ocala Star-Banner says Stephens got out of his vehicle and jumped a fence before being stopped by a police K-9 named Tipster who managed to take him down by biting his arm, Atta-boy Tipster! Stephen later admitted to deputies that he injected heroin during the pursuit and even apologized.
Sure enough, deputies discovered heroin in Stephen's vehicle and he was subsequently charged with several crimes in addition to his original charges.
He has been jailed on a felony warrant for grand theft, grand theft of a motor vehicle, fraud and two counts of burglary of a conveyance plus charges stemming from the pursuit.

Now, if he'd stopped to shoot steroids or speed, I would have understood. "performance enhancement and all that." I can only guess he figured he was gonna get caught anyway. Might as well, get a good one tied on "for the road."
