The San Francisco Bay Area, one of the most liberal regions in the U.S., takes extreme pride in its tolerant and diverse culture. Although the Bay Area would seem like a safe haven for anyone, this is not the case for conservatives, who have been pushed into hiding due to the violent behavior of liberals toward them.
Robert Ward is only one of the few conservatives living in San Francisco. But according to Ward, living in this area has become very dangerous because of his political beliefs. As noted by the Bay Area native, many conservatives in the region have to meet in secret just to discuss their political views and affiliations. Many of them are afraid of what might happen to them if other people knew that they are conservative or if they support President Donald Trump.
As noted by Ward, this fear heightened following the events that happened in UC Berkeley, when violent protests orchestrated by leftist forced conservative journalist Milo Yiannopoulos to cancel his speech at the university. The incident became so violent and out of control that local law enforcers had to enforce a lockdown at the campus.
According to Ward, this is the type of hypocritical culture of liberals that’s prevailing over the Bay Area. These leftists and anti-Trump supporters appear as if they are open to welcoming anyone. However, when it comes to political beliefs, their true colors begin to show.
“If you witness what happened in Berkeley, actually they are so violent on top of it,” Ward told KPIX 5. “I mean being a conservative in the Bay Area is like being a heretic. You lead a double life. You can never tell your friends and co-workers.”
Right now, living as a conservative is hard due to the liberals’ hate against Trump and for those who support him. It is as if conservatives are being persecuted solely because of their political beliefs. Hopefully though, as Ward noted, things will get better once the people see and accept that Trump’s intention is for the betterment of the country.
