12-Year-Old Killed, Five Injured in Cleveland, Ohio Shooting

Residents of one Cleveland, Ohio neighborhood are outraged and in complete shock after a mass shooting left one young child dead and five others injured.

According to Police, 12-year-old Abdel Bashiti was inside of his father's beauty supply store, One Beauty Supply, on located at 11608 Buckeye Road and the corner of East 116th Street when shots broke out amongst gangbangers at the One Stop liquor store directly next door.

Investigators say that both Abdel and his father were walking out the front door to see what the noises were when a stray bullet struck the young child in the abdomen.

Five others were shot, all between the ages of fourteen and sixteen, during the melee assault of gunfire.

Both Abdel’s father and witnesses stayed with the victims until emergency medical responders arrived to the scene to transport all of those hurt to a nearby hospital.

One of the 16-year-olds are in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his head.

12-year-old Abdel was pronounced dead at the hospital, which has neighbors and friends of the family completely distraught.

Jamal Elayyan, manager at the next door liquor store said of Abdel, “He's a good kid, smart, nice,” he said. “He would be the last person to have this happen.”

Elayyan said that Abdel and his father were great people who would help out anyone they could, at any time.

Temi Meeks, owner of Temi African Braiding & Boutique, which is located on the other side of the beauty supply store said that this type of violence doesn't often happen in the area but when it does it always has horrific consequences.

She said she's shocked, and heartbroken than young Abdel is now gone.

“He's a quiet and good boy, and he kept to himself,” she said. “I just pray there's a stop to these teenage shootings. There's a lot that needs to be done.”

Aaron Knuckles, who also lives in the neighborhood, was shocked by how many victims there were at one time in this terrible crime.

“And they killed someone,” he said to<a href="http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/11/residents_business_owners_shoc.html">Cleveland.com</a>. “It's terrible knowing it's happening in my neighborhood where my children walk the streets.”

While there are multiple security cameras in the area, Homicide Detectives from the Cleveland Police Department say that as of this time they have no suspects and are hoping that the public can assist in this terrible situation.
