Sheriff's Deputies interviewed her brother, 62-year-old Thomas "Tommy" Hopkins, who said that he pulled a handgun during an argument between them.

According to Hopkins his sister repeatedly continued to scream in his face at which point he shot her, prior to making the emergency 911 call.

Hopkins was then arrested and charged with murder, before being transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains on a $75,000.00 bond.

“I can't think of too much that's sadder than a brother killing his sister the day after Thanksgiving. It just doesn't make sense,” said Chief Deputy Randy Christian. “God be with this family.”
