Brazil – A teen has committed suicide after ex-boyfriend spread intimate revenge photos of her online.
The girl killed herself after intimate pictures of her were posted online by her ex-boyfriend and. The rumors spread to her hometown.
Earlier this month, 15-year-old Karina Saifer Oliveira was found dead in a backyard of Nova Andoradina's home about 500 miles west of Sao Paulo.
A picture of Karina 's body photographed in the scene of suicide appeared in WhatsApp of messaging service.
“I wouldn’t wish this on any mother,” said the teen’s mom, Angela Saifer.
Saifer said her daughter did not show any signs of suffering. However, her father, Aparecido Oliveira, said she had been talking about rumors of intimate photos two months ago.
“She came to talk to me, saying that she was feeling like a trashy person because this had happened to her. I said it didn’t have anything to do with her,” he said.
According to the report, the police are investigating rumors that a 17 - year - old boy (who was dating at the age of 14) posted her online intimate photos.
Oliveira says that Karina, who is biracial, was also bullied by classmates in school.
“After she died, we saw messages from students on her WhatsApp, hateful ones, from students teasing her about her hair because it was half-afro because she used a hair straightener. They’d been sending them for over a year,” her father said.
In addition to her family's grief, her sister found a picture of the body of Karina at WhatsApp.
Saifer found her daughter’s body when she returned home from work on Nov. 7. She said only law enforcement officials would have witnessed the scene.
The family has filed a complaint with local authorities, although police commissioner Luiz Quirina Antunes Gago denied any cops leaked the photo.
