Shooting Outside Missouri Mall on Black Friday Leaves One Teen Dead

Law enforcement in Columbia, Missouri say that they've responded to the scene at a shopping mall on Black Friday with reports of gunfire.

At least one 19-year-old was struck during the hail of bullets, and investigators say that both the gunman and the victim reportedly know one another.

Columbia police, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers, and crews from the Columbia Fire Department all responded to the Columbia Mall parking lot amidst the Black Friday chaos after the shooting.

As of Friday morning, law enforcement officials have placed crime scene tape on a section of the parking lot, and are still seeking to determine facts surrounding the incident.

No other victims are reported to have been injured in the shooting, and at least one suspect fled the scene.

Officers said that two men were sitting inside of a car when one of them discharged the gun allegedly trying to holster the weapon.

Police say that the victim is now in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but have not released a name of either the suspect or the victim

As of now, police are asking for any witnesses to the crime to contact the Columbia Police Department at (573) 874-7652 with any information that could assist in their investigation.
