Video - Black Friday Chaos Erupts Around World

The US has been an exporter of its cultural ways ever since the end of the second world war. Built-in kitchens, color televisions and ironing boards in the 50's until iPhones and sneakers in the 90's. And since a few years ago, the US has exported another phenomenon worldwide: Black Friday.

Black Friday is named as such because it is supposedly the day that the bookkeepers started writing the books in black rather than red. Yes, the retailer's normal yearly profit amounts to the five weeks from now until the end of the year. Or at least that’s what they want us to believe.

And thus, on this day, retailers offer their yearly stock at discount prices so they can sell out and then sell you the same thing at X-mas prices. People line up from 4 and then storm in as soon as the doors open. Works every time.

The madness started this morning. This is one of the first video’s that reached us:

Mr Daryl Green, 50-years-old, stood waiting outside the Chelsea Best Buy in New York already before the sun came up, some 14 hours before its doors were scheduled to open: “I wanted to be the first one in line, I completed my mission. I’m not waiting in the long line back there, hell no!”

A new tactic has been reported this year already, with some shoppers apparently disguising themselves as staff to sneak in early. Online sales of Walmart employee vests to desperate bargain-hunters were reported three days before already.

One former Walmart employee tweeted: “I’m selling this Walmart vest for $100. Use it to skip the line during Black Friday. You can even walk in, grab what you want, and walk out.”

Another one chimed in, saying: “Good thing I kept my vest from Walmart when I quit. We live baby. Black Friday shopping bout to be lit. I'm skipping everybody.”

We also just found a first fight in the US. Happy to share it with y’all and hope you stay safe on Black Friday.

Oh and as one Twitter user pointed out: if you’re going to film Black Friday fight, please turn your phone horizontal.
