Texas Republican Joe Barton is not getting ready for a very good Thanksgiving dinner we assume.
His sexually explicit picture has by now been spread all over the internet’s social messaging sites.
The picture at first appeared on an anonymous Twitter account and is by now un-missable as soon as you type in Mr Barton’s full name. It was accompanied by the quite suggestive message: ‘I want u soo bad. Right now.’
The woman who leaked it told the press that she and Mr Barton had a sexual relationship between 2011 and 2016 and that she would be leaking further material soon.
Mr Barton has apparently threatened her in a recorded telephone conversation that he would report her to US Capitol Police if she were to release any further photographic or audio evidence of their encounters.
The 68-year-old Mr Barton (currently divorced from his second wife), who’s a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, issued a statement saying he had sexual relationships “with other mature adult women”.
The statement read: “While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women. Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended. I am sorry I did not use better judgment during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down.”

Mr Barton, who started his career as a consultant in the oil and gas industry before he joined the House in 1985. He currently serves as the vice-chairman of the powerful energy and commerce committee. He used to be the committee’s chairman from 2004 to 2007. In 2010, he made further headlines when he apologized to BP for the company’s treatment by Congress during hearings over the disastrous Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Last time the Texas Republican congressman made headlines was in 2013 when he cited the biblical flood to dispute human links to climate change.
