A 26-year-old dwarf who approached 13 and 15-year-old girls via their Facebook account asking them for sex and naked photographs, has been spared jail after the judge claimed he feared for his life would he be sent there.
Mr. Bryan Anthony Bowen had approached two young girls online via their Facebook pages, asking them for sex and to send him naked photographs.
The judge, Mr. Rhys Rowland told Mold Crown Court that Mr. Bowen, who hails from Welshpool was “trying to live out some sort of fantasy.”
Choosing not to jail him, the judge said he was “small in stature, and emotionally inadequate” and added that if he had been persuaded to suspend the inevitable prison sentence as he believed that if Mr. Bowen would be sent to prison he would face a very hard time.
Although he had no previous convictions, judge Rowland said that what Mr. Bowen had done was “very, very wrong” .
The prosecuting barrister, Ms. Anna Price said that the 15-year-old girl was “shocked and angry” to receive a Facebook message from Mr. Bowen stating literally “do you want to f…?”.
She tried blocking his profile at first but then received further messages on her 16th birthday stating: “I will f… you for your birthday present.”
Upon his arrest, police officers searched through Mr. Bowen’s laptop and found that he had previously approached a girl aged only 13 via Facebook as well who he had said was “fit as f…”and asked her if she was still single.
Mr. Bowen declared that he thought the girls in question were older.
His lawyer, Mr. Dafydd Roberts, urged Judge Rowlands not to send Mr. Bowen to jail as he has had learning difficulties and attended a special school.
Judge Rowland then handed Mr. Bowen a 48-week prison sentence, suspended for two years.
In the end, the judge told Mr. Bowen that girls aged 13 and 15 had “quite enough on their plates” without men like him.
