Uber Tycoon Arrested For Sex Assault In London

An American billionaire, who took out a gag order against the British press (meaning that you can pay not to have your name published in the press till proven guilty) as he was being arrested on suspicion of raping a woman at a London five-star hotel, can now be revealed as technology entrepreneur and Uber executive, Mr Shervin Pishevar (pictured with Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin).

Mr. Pishevar had rented a penthouse suite of the Ned Hotel in the heart of the London City district, the financial quarter comparable to Wall Street or Manhattan and had invited a woman to join him. She later that same day went to a police station to claim she had been raped in the penthouse, after which the entrepreneur was arrested.

The business tycoon is an Iranian-American venture capitalist and father of two, who invested early on in Uber and co-founded Hyperloop One.

After the City of London Police questioned him, he took out a gag injunction against the UK press, which has now been lifted (it is supposed the case was settled out of court.)

Mr. Pishevar’s lawyer declared: “In May this year, Mr. Pishevar was briefly detained and swiftly exonerated after an untrue allegation of wrongdoing was made.

“Following such exoneration, by consent, the interim injunction prohibiting reporting of the incident has been lifted.”

“Hence reporting restrictions in relation to the arrest no longer apply. Indeed, Mr. Pishevar has himself spoken about the global smear campaign against him, which is the subject of proceedings issued in the United States last week.”

The US press did not have these restrictions, and they had reported on the case earlier on, as well as assuming that the woman would simply be paid off. However, Mr. Pishevar’s company vehemently denies this: “Mr. Pishevar is informed that several false rumors have been spread about him, including that he purportedly paid money to settle the claim. That is categorically false. It is because of false rumors like this that he was compelled to bring this legal action against Definers to ensure that his reputation is not destroyed and that the truth will always prevail."
