Video: Saudis Launch Military Strikes On Yemen Capital

The tension between age-old rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran keeps rising as more and more preparations for war seem to be put in place.

Today the Saudis retaliated for a missile launched from Yemen to their Riyadh airport last week (according to the Saudi defence ministry the device was clearly Iranian made) when they bombed the Houthi rebel-controlled Ministry in Yemen's capital Sanaa.

Two separate airstrikes plummeted on the ministry whilst plumes of smoke could be seen rising up from the building.

One of those Saudi missiles reportedly missed the target and instead hit a residential area near the ministry, wounding eight civilians. Casualty numbers could rise as local authorities were still looking for survivors.

The war between Yemen, the region's poorest country, and Saudi Arabia started in 2014, just after Houthi rebels gained control of the Yemeni capital Sanaa and started to push south towards the country's third-biggest city Aden.

Worried by the growing strength of those rebels, who the Saudis claim are financially backed by Iran, Saudi Arabia and a coalition of Sunni Arab states, launched a massive air campaign aimed at reinstalled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's government. Ever since then, some 10,000 people have been killed and 40,000 wounded.
