According to police, the suspect fled the scene after shooting the police Corporal who stopped him and was in a blue Pontiac with the Pennsylvania license plate number KLC3166.

It's believed that he was heading along 78 eastbound into New Jersey and that he shot himself during the altercation before speeding off.

Shortly thereafter the incident the suspect is believed to have driven himself to the Easton Hospital where he sought emergency medical treatment for his gunshot wounds.

There is reportedly a heavy police presence in and around the hospital and the suspect has been taken into custody prior to undergoing surgery to save his life.

The police Corporal who was shot during the traffic stop was also transported via medical helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital where he's reportedly already undergoing surgery himself due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The identity of the officer or the suspect has yet to be released but it's clearly another senseless attack on law enforcement who risk their lives every time they put on the uniform each and every day in America.
