We're supposed to support our troops at all costs; men and women who suit up and pledge to serve to volunteer their lives to ensure the rest of us have certain unalienable rights.

However in Kansas; instead of honoring America's finest, 54-year-old Clifford Currie violently attacked and tried to kill a Patriot by first slicing her up with a razor blade and then pouring gasoline on her and setting her on fire.

I must warn you before you go further, some of these images are graphic of Katie Blanchard along her road to recovery.

The female victim who miraculously survived the incident, Army Lt. Katie Blanchard, said the attack occurred on September 7th of 2016, at the Munson Army Health Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

The two had worked together at the hospital for over a year where Currie, a civilian employee in an administrative position at the hospital, began making threatening cents to Lt. Blanchard which prompted her to contact her supervisors saying that she feared for her life.

It turns out those fears that Lt. Blanchard had would turn into a reality in which forever will torment Katie Blanchard for the rest of her life.

The same day Lt. Blanchard had spoken with her supervisors about Currie he then rushed into her office carrying a plastic two-liter bottle filled with gasoline, doused her with it as she tried to fight him off, set her on fire; and then began violently slashing pieces of her away with a razor blade.

Currie then placed his foot on Blanchard’s throat as she was burning and picked up a pair of scissors in which he was about to take her life when a witness tackled him and saved her just as her life was flashing before her very eyes.

Blanchard, covered in blood with burnt flesh hanging off her she screamed at her supervisors, “I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN!”

She did too, and she was ignored for the most part resulting in the devastating consequences she must now suffer with.

Such is often the case on Civilian and Military Co-op facilities such as Fort Leavenworth, where females who serve often have their pleas ignored.

According to the criminal complaint, witnesses said Blanchard had voiced her concern about her subordinate and even asked to have someone accompany her when she worked with him directly. But Blanchard says her requests were denied.

This time, however, those who ignored Lt. Blanchard are just as responsible for the actions of the madman Currie as he is himself and they failed Lt. Blanchard in that regards.

I know, it sounds like a horror movie; but for Lt. Katie Blanchard that's a horror movie she has to relive every single day when she looks in the mirror and sees the scars on her face and body from the severe burns she endured.

“He looked at me and he was wild and he was aggressive,” she said, reflecting upon the encounter in January. “I really felt like he was going to hurt me.”

Lt. Blanchard claims that she just knew that Currie was going to do something, that she could feel it in her bones.

She even attempted to submit a memorandum for behavioral issues regarding Currie which went ignored for weeks, she believes, because she was a woman.

According to Lt. Blanchard, she fought twice as hard as the men around her to receive the rank of Lieutenant; and that's just the case in the United States of America's Armed Forces, where a woman undergoes far more scrutiny to succeed than a man.

“When I was lying on the ground, I just thought, ‘You guys did this, you knew this was going to happen and you allowed this to happen’!” she told PEOPLE in an interview. “I felt utterly let down.”

Blanchard has undergone countless reconstructive surgeries to repair her skin and face from the fire and the severe burns she endured, and shares status updates on Facebook with friends and family.

Back in August, Currie was found guilty in a trial of one count of assault with intent to commit murder, and this week Lt. Blanchard must once again undergo the horrifying memories as today Currie was finally sentenced.

The Federal Court Judge gave Clifford Currie 20 years in prison and ordered him to pay restitution in the amount of $3,464,965.80 to Lt. Blanchard.

Blanchard however, she's furious with the sentence.

“Twenty years doesn’t feel like justice,” Army Lt. Katie Blanchard said. “He not only tried to kill me but he gave me injuries I will have for the rest of my life.”

Blanchard is 100% correct, although that was the maximum penalty for the crime.

She more so than anything else wants to share her story, with men and women on Military and co-op joint civilian bases, to urge them to properly listen and investigate claims made by women and men who fear a danger to their lives.

“You just… You’re a human being. You have instincts, and if they tell you something is really wrong you just know in your gut, in your heart; you know you're right,” said Lt. Blanchard.

First and foremost thanks to Lt. Blanchard for her service, our apologies for her pain and suffering, and may the scumbag responsible suffer each day as she continues to heal.

Next, as if you needed a reminder; never relax

I notice the total avoidance of saying the secret word….. MUSLIM attacker.

Denise Hedgecock No. 11124 1509815717

Ignored her because Currie is colored and a muslime. Hope he dies in prison at the hands of anti-muslimes. Enough of these viscious "peaceful" Islamic scum.
