Elementary School Counselor arrested on child sex crime charges

Houston primary school counselor is arrested for child abuse and investigators are concerned that the number of victims may increase. Brandon Thomas McElveen (33 years old) committed indecency with a child.

McElveen served as a counselor at KIPP Explore Academy since 2009. According to the court 's document, one of the victims is 8 years old girl. She was told that he would take off her clothes to "check lice" in his office. According to other teachers, he took any child to his office multiple times.

McElveen was fired. Also arrested by the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, remains in custody.

The school district released the following statement:

"I and the entire KIPP Houston leadership team want you to know that we are treating this situation with the utmost seriousness. We are doing everything we can to support our students, families, and staff, and to ensure all members of our KIPP community feel safe and secure."

KIPP Houston Public Schools are asking anyone whose children had communication with McElveen to talk with their children.

There are some parents who never trust male teachers in elementary school. That seems to be rediculous, but we watch this same kind of news every so often. We already have a polygraph. Why should not someone else develop "pedophilia-detector" to avoid those people try to reach any job to interact with children?
