Mr Alejandro Castillo, 18 years old, has the questionable honor of being the youngest Charlotte man to have made it onto the FBI’s most wanted list.
He is wanted for the 2016 murder of his former girlfriend, 23 year old Miss Truc Quan "Sandy" Ly Le.
According to police records, the two were breaking up and Mr Castillo had agreed to meet his girlfriend one last time to repay her the 1,000 $ he still owed. But when they got together, instead of repaying her the money, he held her at gunpoint and forced her to drive to the nearest ATM so she could withdraw the maximum available amount of cash and then took her to a wooded area just outside of Charlotte where he shot her in the head. Afterwards her body was dumped into a ravine.
Mr Castillo then took Miss Le’s car and together with his new girlfriend drove off to Arizona, where he left it at a bus station. From there, the two took a bus to Mexico.
The young girl who fled together with Mr Castillo surrendered to Mexican authorities over a year ago and is now back in North Carolina where she faces charges related to Miss Le's death. It took authorities over a week to identify Miss Le’s body which was left in nature.
The FBI believes that Mr Castillo is either in Pabellón de Arteaga or San Francisco de los Romo, both cities in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes. From there, he may have traveled to the states of Guanajuato or Veracruz. A reward of up to $100,000 is offered for any information that can lead to his capture.
Special Agent Mr Marc Weingrad of the FBI’s Charlotte Division: "The FBI has a long reach, and no matter where he is, we will not rest until Castillo is captured and brought to justice."
