A protester who had earlier in the day posed behind Republican Senator Bob Corker whilst he was being interviewed, seems to have managed to breach security at the Capitol Building just as President Donald Trump arrived for a scheduled lunch meeting with Republican Senators.
As President Trump walked past to his assembly where the tax reform plans would be discussed, Mr Ryan Clayton of the Americans Take Action group began shouting towards him and threw Russian flags on the floor. As President Trump looked surprised, Mr Clayton could be overheard yelling: “Trump is treason. This is not about tax reform!”

It is still unclear exactly how Mr Clayton was able to remain in the press area for most of the day (he needs a valid press credential to bypass Capitol Security).
NBC’s Ms Andrea Mitchell stated her surprise: “the president was walking down the corridor right off the Senate floor on the second floor of the Capitol, one of the most secure places in Washington. We saw something we’ve never seen here before.”
The Americans Take Action group is a non-profit that has made it its mission to protest the democratically elected President of the US. Though no contact address or sponsors can be found on their network website, Mr Clayton is featured as an author on the Huffington Post. His group is in turn part of the Action network, a group linked to several left-wing organisations.
